Dr. Daniel DeCillis is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry where he completed a Clerkship in oral surgery during his senior year and graduated near the top of his class. During dental school, he was selected for membership into the Gorgas Odontological Honorary Society, Gamma Pi Delta Prosthodontic Honor Society, and received an award for outstanding achievement in the study of Prosthodontics by the American College of Prosthodontists.
After graduation, Dr. DeCillis elected to pursue a General Practice Residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA where he received advanced training in oral surgery, oral and IV sedation, hospital dentistry, endodontics, dental implants, and providing care for anxious, medically-complex, and pediatric patients.
Dr. DeCillis is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Earning Fellowship takes dedication to continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Only about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows and Dr. DeCillis is one of two AGD Fellows in Southern Oregon. When you see a dentist with FAGD after their name, you can rest assured that they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD fellows practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year — not every dentist does this.
To become and AGD Fellow, a dentist must:
Complete over 500 credit hours of CE
Earn 350 of those 500 credits in live courses
Pass an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams
Outside of dentistry, Dr. DeCillis enjoys spending time with his wife, Lily, and their two sons, Lucas and Oliver. He also enjoys cycling, hiking, traveling, and cooking. Prior to his career in dentistry, Dr. DeCillis graduated from culinary school and worked as a chef at several fine-dining restaurants in Charlotte, NC where he is from. Dr. DeCillis is thrilled be a part of the Ashland community and have the opportunity to care for the wonderful people of this unique town!
Jessica A. says: I am like many other people who have had bad experiences with dentists and do NOT want to go back!!! Well I gave Soulsmile a chance and I was shocked at how comfortable I felt. From the super friendly front office staff, to the assistants and to Dr. DeCillis himself, they raised the bar on anyone else I have seen! I unfortunately had the pleasure of needing a root canal done and, although a painful recovery, I have nothing but great things to say by all of the staff. I even received a phone call and text message from Dr. DeCillis personally to be sure I am feeling well. Who does that?
I am now a life-long patient of Soulsmile and hope you will be to :)Diane S. says: When my long-time dentist in Ashland retired, I tried two other dentists before I found Dr. DeCillis. I have now had a tooth cleaning and a replacement of a broken crown at Soulsmile. I couldn’t be more pleased. The office staff are friendly and helpful, but most important Dr DeCillis and his dental assistants are expert and exceptionally good at explaining what they are doing each step of the way. Dr DeCillis really listens to his patients and explains what options might be possible with various treatments. I feel safe and well cared for in the Soulsmile office. I’ve found my new dentist!
Jean P. says: What a wonderful experience from the minute you walk through the door until the minute you walk out. If you are one of those people who dreads the thought of going to the dentist, this is the dentist office for you! Dr. Decillis and his staff are extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The office is bright and cheery...not your typical dentist office...and super clean. Even the views from the hygienist's chair is breathtaking. I will be back every 6 months!!! :)
Hannah J. says: I had my wisdom teeth extracted and it was SO smooth. I was really nervous but upon arrival could see that I was going to be well taken care of, communicated with & I totally trusted the procedure. It’s been a few weeks now and everything healed quickly and smoothly. I’d definitely recommend.
